Bag of Burlap!

I've been to the Flea Market again and this time I found a large bag of burlap. I've been spotting burlap everywhere such as in drapes, pillows, tablecloths and even lampshades such as these from Ballard Designs and Pottery Barn. I have a few projects rolling around in my head and I'll post them just as soon as I finish them! Of course I checked out Joni's blog Cote De Texas and got even more inspiration! Should I, could I do a bedroom like this? Check it out but be good and leave me a comment first!

  1. I had burlap curtain many many years ago. They looked really nice but those fibers fly everywhere. My friend Judy made a tableskirt out of hers and it looked really great. I just bough 5 yards at Hobby Lobby yesterday and was surprised by all the different colors it comes in now!

  2. Hi Manuela,
Thanks for stopping by. Yes, I've noticed in all of the yardage that I bought that there are several different shades of cream, khaki, etc. It's so pretty I can't wait to get started on my projects. What are you going to do with yours?

  8. For some reason I'm getting seriously spammed on this post! If you have a real comment to leave, please do. However, if it's spam it will be deleted, so don't bother.

  9. I'm on my way to buy burlap for drapes. I have no sewing machine because I hate to sew. Sooo (sorry), I will glue it or leave it raw....any suggestions? Thanks for the inspiration. Why would someone spam about burlap?..they need to get a life.

  10. I've seen so many great ideas for burlap curtains. You could definitely leave the edges raw if you don't plan on washing them very often. The ends will fray more with each laundering. I had some like this in my kitchen for awhile but found that I needed something with more insulating properties in the winter. There are a lot of great fabric glues out there that could work on a hem or to add a bit of trim onto the edges. Another possibility is to use iron on hemming tape. Ask for it at your fabric or craft store. All you need is a hot iron! Hope it works out for you and I would love to see a picture when you're done!
