I had some chalkboard paint left over in the garage. Around here, that can be dangerous. I had painted a little bit on the wall and framed it for a chalkboard as you can see here. That worked great until I moved the brown bookshelf upstairs. Then the frame fell down one night and scared us half to death. I left it off for awhile as you can see in this picture at Thanksgiving.
I stuck the frame back up for Christmas but by this time it was BUGGING me. So I pulled a little shabby desk up to it and painted the whole wall with chalkboard paint. Rob added some vintage wheels onto the desk to make it the right height. I love it now. It’s a great little spot to sit and write and I could still serve drinks there for a party. Take a look.
After: A comfy place to sit and a few of my favorite things.
I didn’t write on the chalkboard because it wasn’t completely dry. But I had to let you take a look. What do you think? What will you paint with chalkboard paint this year?

That's really cool! I love the contrast of the black wall next to the white table. I, too, love chalkboard paint! You've inspired me to check my garage for my leftovers! :)
ReplyDeleteYour chalkboard wall looks great! What a great little are you created.
ReplyDeleteI think I know which greenhouse you got at Lowe's. I was looking at it this summer. I want to get some kind of greenhouse. I had been saving old windows and doors to make one but I don't know if we'd be able to figure out how to frame something like that.
There's always next year for the broccoli and kale (or maybe spring).
Yes, my broccoli and kale did great last spring so I'll do that again. I also dream of a greenhouse out of old doors and windows. One day it will happen. But who knows when! ha
ReplyDeleteI'd sure like to give it a try, if I could find the right place to use it! Thanks for following me...I'll be following back!
ReplyDeletelove it! great place for reminder notes!!
ReplyDeleteJust had to say hey to a fellow Arkansan. We have just purchased our first home and moved here to our home state after 23 years of military service. It is so good to be home! I have not used chalkboard paint yet but I sure love your wall and desk. Well, take care and it is nice to "meet"you.
ReplyDeleteYour chalkboard is wonderful! I really like how BIG it is. Jess made one recently too, but it was much smaller. What a fun project. Have a lovely weekend.

I LOVE chalkboard paint. I mentioned to my sister that another blogger (cannot recall which one) said her post about making blackboard paint was her most popular post and my sister had no idea why anyone would be interested in the idea and I had to explain chalkboard paint is more expensive than regular paint and if you paint a whole wall or whole room with it, then it adds up. She was totally shocked at the idea of painting a whole wall or a whole room with it and then I told her all the different options and she was agreed it could be very cool. I keep toying with the idea myself. I have some paint in my craft room and like you, I'm itching to use it somewhere or a couple of places. LOL.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I came here after you left us a really sweet comment on my backyard redo post. You have some really fun entries. We are following you now.
